a familiar sight - WOYWW 257

Hi all of you around the globe ...
I welcome you warmly on my blog to have a look at my messy crafting table. If you're wondering why I'm doing this ... please hop over to the wonderful Julia's blog stamping ground to see what all this is about. Basically it's a chance to snoop around other people's crafty workdesks and discover what they're up to. In fact, it's so much more. Just try, it's worth the experience.

I don't know what it is, I can tidy up as often as I want - within a wink of the eye my table looks like this again ... *sighs*

In the center there's a tea try I purchased some time ago which I try to alter. It's supposed to be a thank-you-gift for a neighbor who handed down lots of children's clothes to us the other day.
I planned to keep it in the colors of the Union Jack since I don't have any tea-related images. But I'm not at all satisfied ... there are several layers of acrylic paint on it already ... would you believe I'm just too dense to sand the color back to achieve the look I'm aiming at?
Anyway ... coffee is missing today because I'd finished it and have been just about to leave house. Around the tray there are several supplies I used recently to make some cards, a bottle of gesso, remaining DIY chalk paint I'm not going to waste, various inkpads, and tape. Some StazOn midi I bought recently and I'm already totally in love with. The little booklet with the number 2 on it is a post it booklet I want to alter.

WOYWW #252 - chaos as always ...

Hi and hello crafty fellows, I hope you are all well now that Spring finally is all around (hopefully).

Long time no see ...
it always seems to be chaos on my workdesk - although it looks at least different every time LOL Today I'm able to join WOYWW again, hosted by the wonderful Julia Dunnit. If you wonder what I'm talking about please hop over to her blog and seek out what a wonderful and exciting concept she tirelessly supports. The best chance you ever get to snoop around other people's desks all over the globe.

Today my usual mess looks like this:

In the center probably a mule my daughter 1 dug up at bulk trash and which I talked her into giving me. I'm about to make it rust and take on some verdigris with the help of the gorgeous reactive metal paints from tenseconds studio - I so love them.
Lots and lots of remnants of former and pieces for future projects, the inevitable coffee mug (have to be careful not to mistake it for the brush water), and some stuff the children like to throw among my stash.

WOYWW 230 - chaos everywhere

Hi to all the peekers and deskhoppers all around the globe.
It's this time again when you have the best of all excuses (if you feel you need one :-)) to snoop around other people's desks and the things they're up to. Among other things the foreign desks are a great source of inspiration from very talented people. Julia Dunnit is the generous host who pulls all the strings on her blog 'Stamping Ground'.
Today it's chaos again, as way too often recently. The children have Autumn holidays and are at home, so very little time for crafting.
I tried to make a card on commission - have been asked to make something with flowers. I had such a hard time ... I don't own many flowers and very rarely use them. So I made a variety to choose from.

It's for a coworker who's going to retire (gelli plate prints, sprayed backgrounds various stamps, a bit of stencilling with modeling paste, and I found a long forgotten inchie which I added to one of the cards).

Then: stamps, coffee, ink pads, bits and bobs, chaos, bits I tested different things on. On the left you can see some pieces I'm planning to make ATCs with and on top of the little pile an attempt to make a playing card, you can see the finished ones in this blog post.
On the upper left corner in the first pic you can spot a card I made with new stamps I got :-)

WOYWW #227

Hi to all the peekers and deskhoppers all around the globe.

Today I'm sharing only a very restricted view on my desk.

Above there's a card I made for daughter nr. 1's birthday invitation. They'll go to the cinema to see a movie about a car race. Then there are some leaves I prepared for whatever Autumn project, an ATC that you can hardly recognise, an arch that I still have to finish and dominoes.
On the second pic you can see a leftover scrap from a gelli plate print I want to use these days. And a closer look at the leaves.
For the rest of the week I have to do a few birthday cards I have been asked for for some of my coworkers so I'm not sure when I'll be able to go on with my own things ... *sighs*
I really wish my time wouldn't be so limited ...

WOYWW #225 - the usual mess

A warm welcome to you snoopers and deskhoppers all around the globe.

It's getting darker in the mornings now and it's also getting more and more difficult for me to take proper pics before I have to leave for work :-) But it's a wonderful day today, rather warm and a bit sunny. I hope you're all well ... I'm unusually good humored today LOL - had lunch with two wonderful, witty and intelligent coworkers, kidding around and talking stuff.
Anyway, back to my desk/table: beside the usual clutter and mess on my table this week there are a couple of new stamps I got

There's been a stamp fair last weekend but I didn't go this year because I have a much more exciting event ahead  :-D I'm sure I'll need a good deal of cash ...

Then, again, an unfinished project - I'm preparing for a challenge

and last but not least a lollipop stick I got from my daughter :-D - no plans yet ...

WOYWW 224 - blanks

Good morning snoopers and deskhoppers all around the globe.
It's this time again when you get the chance to have a look at other people's desks, an event which is hosted by Julia Dunnit - please pay her a visit to see what this is all about - and perhaps leaving a comment :-)
There's not much going on on my desk this time. Mainly I'm priming a few things to work on later. One is a notebook (I can't stand pink - no offense to those who like it :-D)

and a slide mailer (on the right)

The butterflies are not attached, they are just small samples which I tried something with. It's called 'fusible film' and I got it from de Craftorij in The Netherlands. Great stuff :-D

I love how they turned out.
On the left there are some stencils I'm planning to use on the notebook. I think I'm going to use dylusion sprays and some acrylic paints. Probably. I guess you can see what I'm aiming at :-D

The rest is a mess from pieces of former and planned projects, so I leave this space out :-D

WOYWW #223 - working on destruction

Good morning snoopers and deskhoppers all around the globe.
It's this time again when you get the chance to have a look at other people's desks, an event which is hosted by Julia Dunnit - please pay her a visit to see what this is all about.
This is my desk/dining table how it looked this morning:

It's a canvas I'm working on. I'm trying to achieve a kind of muddy and decayed look with the means I have at hand. At the moment I'm a bit at a loss how to proceed, though.
Scattered around you can see - among other things - a few bits of a gorgeous swap parcel I got the other day, more on this later. The white piece above the acrylic paint is something I'm planning to use on a page for my alphabet journal - if I ever get it done in time.
This is how the canvas looked before:

Pieces of tyvek were adhered, colored with different acrylic paints, gesso, inka gold, then stencilled.
I wanted the tyvek to bubble, but it tore and ripped away immediately. Anyway. I'll work with that. There aren't any mistakes in art after all, are there? :-D

Now I'm off to hopping around and hopefully commenting :-)

WOYWW #220 - new stencils

Hi people all over the world, it's desk snooping peeking time again.
Sadly last week I've not been able to join - Summer holidays. But now they're finally over and I hope that routine will set in as soon as possible - as soon as my husband will be recovered, that is. He gets ill once or two times per year and chose the last few of my personal days off work ... anyway.

After some time I got out my small gelli plate again for a change and played with some new stencils I got these days. I love them!

Short and crisp today, I have to run some errands now and will have a thorough look around and leave comments when I'm back :-D

WOYWW #220 - rust

Hello peeps from all over the world. Welcome to my messy desk :-) therefore just a small snippet today.
If you hop over to Julia Dunnit's blog you can learn everything about WOYWW and what I'm talking about.

I bought some powder recently to create a rusty effect. It looked great on the samples in the shop and now I'm experimenting. These are pieces in different stages.

On the left you can see some awesome goodies my blogfriend Mark sent me - thanks so very much!! x I adore every single piece ... a beautiful script stencil, a stunning TAG (I remember seeing this on the HDH challenge blog but it looks even better irl), a very pretty radiant ATC and a domino brooch. I immediately attached it to my bagpack and only took it off for the pic :-) And a gorgeous keyring pendant I still have to find a place for.

Here you can have a closer look at the rusty things:

 

This is the first piece I made (based on a piece of mountboard Mark sent me too) - I like this one best. Of course I've not been able to catch the real colors in the pics but this one looks closest to the real thing.

The second piece, based on a playing card:

Not bad but not what I hoped for either. To be honest I don't even know what I did different this time ... perhaps a bit less of the powder ...

And I tried a few cogs from cardboard and a clock piece from grungeboard:

WOYWW #219 - where to put the journal pages ...

A cheerful hello (well, I try :-) still half asleep actually ...) to all my visitors, the deskhoppers all around the world (if you wonder what the heck I'm talking about please have a look at Julia Dunnit's blog to learn about WOYWW) and of course to my faithful followers and commenters, you know who you are :-)

Thankfully it's the last day at work for me for quite some time, finally I have some days off. I desperately need them, to be honest. Anyway.

You came (I assume) to see what's going on on my desk aka dining table.

I was thinking about how I could assemble the pages I did for the great Alpha Challenge over at the Craft Barn blog. I really enjoy very much to join in that challenge - all the backgrounds are made with the gelli print plate and a few posts back you can see the newest addition. Well to not cover too much of the pages or even punching holes into them I thought I could use tab die cuts. On the pic you can see the first page I made (letter V - vanity) and which is still one of my favorite pages. The covers are made with some halloween paper and I'm planning to stick letters onto the front, you can see them above the half finished journal. I sprayed them with various sprays and still can't decide if I should cover them with glossy accents or what else to add :-)
On the right you can see a soap bar :-) my daughter 1 brought from Italy for me. Actually I don't know why it's still there, but it smells exceptionally good ...
The pink thing there is my first ever attempt to carve a stamp from a rubber on my own. Since I can't draw a thing I used a stencil, hope that doesn't break the law against copyright.
Well, that's it :-) Coffee is not on the pic, but it is there somewhere :-D

WOYWW #218 - 'yes, I do'

no, not me ... :-D

Good morning all (well, at least here in Germany) and welcome to WOYWW #218, the weekly chance to snoop around on other people's workdesks all over the world. This great opportunity is offered by Julia Dunnit at the stamping ground and many fellow crafters follow the call :-D
It's raining today, which is a relief after the last many days of heat and sweating. But I don't complain, we wished for a 'proper' Summer for years after all. So far we have a great summertime. I'll be able to concentrate well on work today :-)

This is how my desk (dining table) looks like at the moment:

 

A coworker asked me to make a wedding card for her son and her daughter in law to be :-) 

You can see the paper I chose (Harmony Collection from 7 gypsies) and some color samples to help me decide which ink pad I'll use. The stamp is by SU and a very generous fellow stamper lent it to me. On the left the ever present coffee and some charms I'm planning to add to the card. On the upper right you can see the annual season-ticket for the local swimming pool from my daughter 1 - I only told her for about umpteen times to put it away along with her swimming bag  ... but it's a lot easier to ask mum where things went *rolleyes*

Anyway.

and a little pocket which will be adhered to the inside to hide a voucher (ah, stupid me ... I think it's too big .. *argh* ... anyway, I'll see to that later ... now off to work first).

WOYWW #217 – ATC-mini

Hi folks.
I'm no 'real' WOYWW-er yet but since I took a pic of my workdesk-mess yesterday night I thought I could join in just as well :-)

WOYWW means What's on Your Workdesk (on) Wednesdays and is hosted by Julia Dunnit at the Stamping Ground. If you want to know what this all is about please pay her a visit and have a look at her blog - and at people's workdesks all over the world.
So this is my desk (erm, dining room table actually) - the way it looks like when I'm doing some brainless ATCs :-D

I've been working on a ATC-mini-booklet from small envelopes. To 'accessorize' it I made some ATCs with my gut instead of my brain LOL ... I have to admit I usually love them the most :-D

These are the ATCs I made:

All of them are made with gelli plate print backgrounds and partly with separate gelli collage elements - and various stamps.

I'm linking this up too at Carolyn Dube's Colorful Gelli Print Party - July.


And I'm also linking it up to smudgy antics where the challenge is fussy cutting - although this little project isn't creepy at all :-P ;-D
