This is my entry for the challenge 'Mixed Media Monthly - what's your superpower?'

What I consider my 'superpower' in real life is silent observation. It's an indefinite source of learning and getting to know people. You can learn and experience so much and so many things if you observe and listen. And people tend to tell/reveal many interesting things and thoughts ...

Again, I used different Decoart products:
gesso, modeling paste, matte medium, americana acrylics tradidtions blue green light,
aquamarine, fluid acrylics quin gold

Banksy-inspired TAG

Hi and hello everyone.
I've borrowed a book about Banksy with lots and lots of his art from someone and as a little thank-you I made this TAG.
In the book Banksy is quoted as follows for example:

"I'd been painting rats for three years before someone said 'that's clever, 

it's an anagram of art' and I had to pretend I'd known that all along"

On a base of kraft cardstock covered with a little gesso the background is made with brusho, slightly dried with a heat gun and again moved around and blended with gesso and my fingers.

The stamp images are from Viva Las Vegas Stamps (the Banksy images), Cherry Pie, Stampinback, and De Stempelwinkel.

With this TAG I'm joining the challenge #75 'rethink gesso' on the TAG along blog.

backgrounds in process

Hi and good morning to you.
To keep my blog from looking abandoned :-)
I'm sharing two backgrounds in process today:

They are made on canvas, the first one with gesso and acrylic ink as a resist - plus Dylusion sprays, the second one was primed with gesso, sprayed with acrylic ink and gessoed again.
With the first one I got a few steps farther in the meantime, the second one is lying there, waiting for some more time and inspiration :-D

And in case you're interested - some things I purchased last week in order to alter at some point ;-)
(my box of stuff to alter is overflowing *sighs* but there are so many things I simply can't pass by ...)

The paper is made with gesso (as a little resist) and acrylic inks ... I love this technique for bigger areas. The stamps are by Chocolate Baroque and Artistic Outpost.

digging for roses / nach Rosen graben

Nicht wundern, der "Titel" kam mir genau so ins Hirn gesprungen wie die Karte selbst ...

... the 'sentiment' suddenly popped into my brain like the rest of the card LOL – I love those cards that just come flowing through the fingertips.
I made a few backgrounds these days, tried something Godelieve shows on her blog for example (on this bg I flipped the stencil over and pressed it down to get the remaining gesso from the template onto the card). This is a card I made:

Afterwards I wondered if there aren't too much images on that one, but I decided to like it exactly this way :-)

zwei geflügelte Damen für 'take a word' / two winged ladies for 'take a word'

normalerweise mache ich die Sachen direkt für eine Challenge, aber diesmal mache ich eine Ausnahme. Ich habe gesehen, dass zwei ATCs, die ich diese Woche gemacht habe, gut zu der 'take a word' Challenge passen

usually I do these things particularly for the challenges but this is an exception. I noticed that two of the ATCs I made this week fit for the current 'take a word' challenge. Since these ATCs aren't too 'old' here are my two winged ladies:

Der Hintergrund war ein Geschenk, das ATC ist also nicht ganz auf meinem Mist gewachsen ;o)

The background was a gift so the ATC isn't entirely my own piece of work ;o)

You used WHAT? / WAS hast Du benutzt?

heißt es bei der Art Journey - Challenge.

This months Art Journey challenge is:
"You used WHAT??!!"
The idea is to use "anything you like to create a mark/pattern or effect to use along side your stamping whether it's a background or part of the main feature".

Ich habe für den Hintergrund unten ein Stück einer Plastiktüte benutzt, verwischt mit Nagellackentferner, und den oberen Teil mit neocolor eingefärbt.

For the background below I used a piece of a plastic bag and wiped it with a bit of cotton and nail polish remover. The background above is coloured with neocolor II.

Die weißen Flecken oben habe ich mit einem kleinen Kuchenförmchen und Gesso gestempelt, hatte mir vorgestellt, zwei Halbkreise zu stempeln ... naja, jetzt sieht es etwas chaotisch aus.

The white dots are stamped with this little cake-pan and gesso. I imagined something like two semicircles, but it turned out somewhat jumbled.
