D as in ....

Hi all, my faithful followers and passers by. I hope you're enjoying your weekend wherever you are.

I didn't think I'd be able to make it this fortnight ... but here it is, my entry into the aplpha challenge over at the craft barn blog. This time it's the letter D - and I chose the word 'demon/s'.

It's another page for my alphabet journal. The background is again a gelli plate print. But not from my stash; I decided to print one especially for today's page - which created itself.
I used several different stencils in the background, the skull and the wing on top. The little demons are by 100proofpress and the words are heat embossed.

I'm linking this up to Carolyn Dube's colorful gelli print party – August.

T as in ...

Hi all, welcome to my second post for today.
This is the newest addition to my alphabet journal - a page with the letter T. It's my entry into the Craft Barn Alpha challenge week 15 - T:

 When I came across the word 'talon' I didn't even look further because this stamp - which I love - popped into my mind. I knew I had to use it. So I just had to think about what this talon could claw ... and there's the second T-word: the toad.
The background is a gelli plate print again with a ghost of a wing. Stamps are by acapella Stempel and crafty individuals and I used a stencil to show a bit of blood :-D at the top. Toad, talon and the monk (the latter just to cover some space ;o)) are stamped on seperate prints and cut out. To finish the page I added a black feather.
This is how the print looked before:

Don't worry about the toad - he looks very brave and authoritative, doesn't he? I'm sure he'll find a way out ... :-D

this is what happens when you don't recall your Greek mythology correctly LOL

Okay, to begin with: this is my entry into the Craft Barn Alpha Challenge - letter Y with a twist (use yellow).

What caught my attention when flicking through my dictionary was the word 'yarn'. Well ... that couldn't be too difficult, could it? Next I thought about how to use it in an 'original' way LOL. I thought about a maze and how you could find out of it (Ariadne and Theseus popped into my head) with the help of a ... stop! And there's the first mistake: not yarn but Ariadne's THREAD ... hm. Then of course I didn't have a stamp with a bull ... perhaps a cow would do? Without any male or even human parts of course ... anyway. Also I never knew that the maze the Minotaur lived in obviously had a special pattern

that's why I just put some modeling paste with brown and red acrylic paint through a brick wall stencil ...

Anyway, here it is, my page for the letter y - at least there's some yarn on it :-D

 

The background is again a gelli plate print with various paints and stencils. The cow is a stamp by artemio, the pictogram was a freebie from a craft stamper magazine issue.

K is for ...

another round of the Alpha Challenge on the Craft Barn Blog. If you want to know what this is about please hop over to their blog and learn everything about it.
This time it's the letter 'K'.

I'm also entering this into the 'Anything but a Card' challenge #19 which is a color challenge. I just discovered the page fits :-D

I decided to go for the word 'keepsake' and this is what I did for my future alphabet journal:

Here's a picture of an item I hold as a keepsake of my father who passed away way too soon (of course I have other things of him, too ;o)) at the age of 58. Of course it's ridiculous and kitschy, but my dictionary unfortnately doesn't hold the word kitsch. It's an ashtray, actually LOL
I don't even know where it comes from, probably he had it as a keepsake of something or someone too. I'll have to ask my mother.

At first I didn't know what to do with this pic. Then I wanted to make something that is reminiscent of some kind of a shrine. I covered an arc by tando creative with some inka gold indigo. Then I put on a layer of thick embossing powder and pressed a stamp by impressions obsession into it. At last I added a bit of inka gold gold.

I like the texture very much.

I added a stamp of father and daughter (?) by oxford impressions after I sprinkled on some frantage embossing enamel shabby green and some ep gold.
This is the whole page:

Again the background is a ghost print I pulled with my gelli plate. I discovered that the colours match those of the pic almost perfectly - although it's a bit pale. I added stamps by oxford impressions, hero arts, and T.H.

And here's another view of the kitschy piggy-ashtray (I just love it, probably because it's so weird):

No, I don't really think they're ugly beasts :-) that's an allegedly quote by Marcus Tullius Cicero.
This is my entry for the  Alpha Challenge on the Craft Barn Blog  I just made it under the wire ... If you want to know what this is all about please have a look at their blog.

This time it's the letter 'A' and I chose the word ape:

The background is a gelli print (ghostprint) again like all my other pages for this challenge, the stamps are by: katzelkraft, stamper's best and indigo blu.
I'll leave the interpretation to you :-D
Please don't mind the quality of the pic (the sketches from the dictionary show an orang utan, a chimpanzee, and a gorilla) I had to make a detour because blogger doesn't allow me to upload pictures for some time ...

Oh, and of course I'm entering this also into Carolyn Dube's Colorful Gelli Print Party ;o)
