Hi all ...
A few of you probably know I'm kind of obsessed with backgrounds. Obsessed, because I don't seem to get them done to my satisfaction, no matter how many tutorials I'm watching.
This time I dabbled with a canvas and a canvas board. The board was a gift for my son who really loves it - or so he says :-) the canvas is just for practising. I have to say the backgrounds surprisingly turned out better than I hoped for - although, to my greatest astonishment, a bit of ... ahem ... *shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhht* pink-ish showed up ...
the canvas board
and the canvas
Thanks so much for stopping by and having a look.

a book-like box
Hi and hello you creative people out there ...
I have to say, sometimes I'm highly surprised by myself.Like just now LOL
The following project actually started out as a rather halfhearted experiment to create texture with a paper napkin. I did it on an already broken bookcover from papier mâché that I had sitting around for quite some time.
Hm, I just went on, thinking nothing in particular, added acrylic paint with a brush and a brayer, decoupage glue, some embossing powder ... and so forth. Then an idea assumed shape.
There's a Facebook group connected with the very well assorted and gorgeous stamp- and mixed media shop 'de Craftorij' in The Netherlands that is going to run the "De Craftorij Zomer Challenge 2014":
----------------------
----------------------
What is it about?
From June 1st on each day you create something on a card sized about 10x15cm, for 61 days in a row until July 31. If you start later than June 1st there's no need to catch up with anything. The most important thing is to just start and join in.
(roughly translated, hope it's okay ;-))
----------------------
The members of this group have come up with absolutely brilliant ideas and projects that will hold all the cards that are going to be made.
So I thought why not build a new box to go into the cover and keep my blank cards in there :-D
Enough blah blah, here it is:
So there the cards are sitting, white and pure, waiting ...
Let's see how far I'll get :-)
Thanks so much for stopping by, have a great weekend everyone.,
Hugs, Suzanne xxx

soon-to-be-bookcover
Hi all,
Hopefully you are okay wherever you are ... seems quite a few people are under the weather at the moment from what I hear in blogland. If you are, too, accept my best well wishes.
I spent some time for the last two days - going waaaaaaaaaaaaaay slowly - doing a cover according to this tutorial from wonderfully versatile and talented Rachel.
I basically used this stuff (and some bronze metal rub-on paste, not in the pic, must have a look)
plus a few stamps and other tools.
The result has lots of texture on it - so gorgeously yummieh irl ... great to the touch :-)
can't even decide which photos to share
it's made on/with cardboard and like Rachel says in her video it's astonishingly flexible.
Haven't decided yet what to do on the inside of the cover ... but I'll keep you posted, if you're interested.
I'm so looking forward to the final result.
Thanks so very much for visiting and having a look.

more leftovers still ... assembling scraps
Hi all,
I fell ill again - guess it was for too long that I've been well :-( and I'm only able to play around a little with some more scraps I dug up. So I decided to make this a more frequent thing (if not regular) together with those cards I already made now and then for the last weeks.
found: the background with the pattern stamps and the word 'industrial' (some patterned paper, gessoed up and stamped, if I recall correctly), piece of a butterly wing, cut out girl, gelli printed washi tape.
added: the steampunk machine Stempelwinkel image SW R12102, the red gelli collage elements (leftovers from my Mother's day card), the eye (from an I*EA TAG, colored with a wash of acrylic ink).
found:
the background (sprayed with Dylusion sprays, water and a letter stencil), piece of a gelli print, scrap from a die cut TH weathered clock.
added: Stampotique stamp - heat embossed with white ep, scrap is colored with distress stain black soot, Dylusion stamps leaves, words, some of the leaves are colored in slightly with neocolor II wax crayons.
Lia, the kindest and most wonderful owner of the Dutch stamp and mixed media shop de Craftorij and her very busy and creative team have set up a Facebook group some time ago, where the teamies have several mini challenges and other stuff going on. Much worth visiting, I'm highly recommending it.
The second card is for the Tuesday mini (Stampotique) challenge, run by Coby van Willigenburg, which this time is: use just one stencil (and at least one Stampotique image) - it's the letter stencil in the background you can hardly recognise :-)
Thanks so much for stopping by and having a look.
Have a good time everyone.

blue - poems
so far the hints.
I've been asked to make a birthday card for a person I don't know.
The background is made with Dylusion sprays and some inka gold turqoise sponged through a stencil. Then I stamped the script with versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. At last I spritzed a little glimmer mist pearl onto the background.
Stamps are by de stempelwinkel, impressions obsessions, cherry pie
Thank you so very much for your visit.

flying man, resized – de stempelwinkel
Good morning everyone ... seems it's going to be a sunny day today – which would be a great change.
Anyway, it's my turn again at de stempelwinkel designteam blog and today I'm sharing an 'old' stamp in new size.
Following my teammate Mark's example I tried a mixed media board, which you can see as a whole when you pay a visit to de stempelwinkel design team blog. Please check out their new stamps in the shop, too.
As always, I'd love and appreciate to see you there :-)

rooster
Hello everyone ...
I bought a plate with steampunk birds from chocolate baroque recently and thought about what I could do with the rooster.
This is what I came up with
For the background I colored a piece of fabric with acrylic inks. Then I stamped some images from the chocolate baroque steampunk flowers and heat embossed then with clear powder, it's hardly to see.
Mr rooster was stamped separately on white cardstock and colored with various distress inks and a waterbrush pen. The cogs are heat embossed with black powder and from T.H. The words are from the birds plate too, stamped on a scrap of the fabric and glued down.
Thanks so much for stopping by.
