itsy bitsy ...

Hi all ...
I have the honour to have been accepted as a member of the blogger outreach program (see sidebar) and for this spider thingy I used almost exclusively products from the most awesome range of decoart yummieness:

forgot to add the Metallic Lustre black shimmer, which I used to highlight the texture of the spider. It's made with a technique Sir Andy is sharing in his 'outcast' workshop.

Also it's been a while since I joined the challenge on the Haunted Design House blog.
This time it's 'naughty corner' and I hope my little spider fits it :-D There are most definitely corners and I can assure you the spider can be very naughty and evil LOL

Captain's Logbook

Hi and hello to everyone.
It has been quite some time since I've been joining the HDH challenge and also this time I thought I wouldn't be able to. Pondered for days what I could do ... until this morning when I decided to enter  something that was right before my eyes and kept me busy for over a week LOL
So this is my Captain's Logbook, that I finished only last night (it's made from coasters - hope that's okay):

I wanted to use bookrings but had set the eyelets too far from the edge so I had to figure out how else I could assemble it. That was what kept me busy.
I'm entering this into the HDH challenge #186 'steampunk junk'.
Stamps are from Stamper Anonymous designed by the exceptionally talented Brett Weldele, Oxford Impressions and Art Journey.

pimp a drawer

Hi everyone ...

I'm sharing a drawer I altered. It's from a small cupboard by I*EA and I'm sure many of you crafty fellows own at least one of them :-)
In this particular drawer I stowe several paper artsy hot pick stamps:

It's actually a more (dark-)reddish shade, I don't know why it shows dusky pink.
The drawer was painted with two coats of diy chalk paint dark red and one coat chalk paint heirloom from DecoArt. Then I sanded the paint back a bit and stamped the images with StazOn jet black.
Finally all of it was covered with two step crackle and when dry the cracks were highlighted with some brown acrylic paint.
I'm entering this into the Haunted Design House challenge Skullduggery. And since it isn't spooky or creepy or anything like this at all I hope I'll be able to create something else for this exciting challenge :-D

HDH #180 - fresh blood

Hi everyone ... and thank you so much for taking the time to have a look around.

Finally - the minions and inmates of the dungeon aka Haunted Design House are back after their hibernation YAY
Their fist challenge for this year is 'fresh blood'. Unfortunately I had no plan whatsoever, although I watched some very bloody vids :-D
So it's just an ATC - but there's some blood in it, if not fresh ...

It's one of those pieces I'd like to keep ... but it's as good as on its way.

I don't know if you remember: some time ago I asked what to do with this mask.

After some time of thinking I came up with this:

This is my entry into the HDH Challenge #171: Freaker's free for all - which is their way to say anything goes :-D
I painted the mask with black and gold acrylic paint, covered it with a crackle medium and overpainted it with white acrylic paint I added a bit of DI reinker antique linen to. Afterwards I gave it a wash with quinacridone gold (thanks Mark x :-)). After it was dry I stamped some cobwebs and little spiders. I added some sequins at the top and feathers behind the eyes. Thought the latter might look at least a bit spooky :-D

I don't know if this is scary enough for the hardboiled jailors of the evil and creepy over at Haunted Design House, it freaked me out, though: this strange woman appeared one day out of the blue in the mirror on my nightstand ...

Many months ago I saw a tutorial on how you can remove parts of a mirror with oven cleaner. I wanted to try this for just as long. Now I did try it - but it didn't work for some reason, don't know why ... so I tried it the other way around: I took a picture frame from the €-shop, filled some mirror color in a little spray bottle and sprayed it onto the glass plate until it looked somewhat like an old mirror. I applied some rub on metal gold onto the frame and in the middle of the flowers I adhered some small skulls that I had stamped on a piece of cardstock sprayed with a mix of festive berries/fired brick and clear embossed. Finally I put a sepia-photo from the internet behind the glass.

The raven and the skulls are by Oxford Impressions, the tombstone is by paper artsy (hot picks) and the devil by 100 proof press. The raven and the devil are coated with clear embossing powder as well, the headstone is stamped with grey staz on, colored with iced spruce and covered with crackle paint.
It was a real pain to take a pic where you can recognise at least something ... yes, it's a mirror LOL

Bats, bats, bats ...

challenge #154 over at Haunted Design House: Bats in the Belfry.
We are to 'create a dark, Gothic or Halloween-based piece that has anything to do with bats'.

Now this time I dared to do something bigger and a little more elaborat than a card :-) in honor of the BATs, some of  the most adorable and fascinating creatures on earth. Just love them ...

So I decided to do a mirror.
First I glued down pre-cut and torn scraps from patterned paper and dictionary pages. Then I stamped the haunted house with a flock of bats from paper artsy/hot pick in the bottom left corner (sponged it a little bit with green, grey and purple ink), in the background I stamped a spider web by Tim Holtz and a little flock of bats (also paper artsy) several times.

Then I covered the frame with a coat of craft glue and sprayed it with mixtures of distress reinker and water (iced spruce, dusty concord and shabby shutters) and some glimmer mist slate for good measure. Then I scattered different cut-out bat stamps all over the frame.

At first I glued the hanging bats onto the frame and the barbed wire has been stamped in black, so nothing really to recognise properly. Also I outlined the bats with white because they've been too dark which didn't look very good.
In the end I stamped the barbed wire again with silver acrylic paint dabber, stamped the bats again on grey cardstock and cut them out generously to cover the white outlining. I adhered them with 3d pads and tried to complete the wire on the cardstock. Finally I added a metal ornate plate with the word BATS in case someone would miss it's all about bats this time LOL
So in the end it looks better than the first attempt :-) Hope some of you like it, too.

I think it's quite funny how people dig up their various kinds of bats :-D

This one is just the scrap I covered the mirror with, but I think I might do something with it, though ...

I also like to enter this project into the Artful Times challenge #15: fur or feathers (I'd so love to stroke a bat's fur and hold such a little cutie in my hand ... :-D), and the 'Anything but a card challenge #4: Fall or Halloween or Fall Colors' - I think this definitely fits for Halloween :-)
Usually I'm not the challenge hopper but since at the moment there are Halloween challenges everywhere and I sadly am not able to do as many things as I'd love to, I'll make an exception.

bare bones

for the Haunted Design House challenge.
The creepy crowd over there asked us to use NO dimensional embellishments ...
Since I don't like to plaster my projects with lots of stuff anyway this hasn't been the tricky part for me ... I simply had no inspiration at all :-)
Now, last chance ... this is my entry:

Party In The Cemetery

My debut for the Haunted Design House - 'Macabre Monday HDH 137 Perplexing Pigment Play'.
They want to see the colours black, teal, purple and lime green over there.
I made a TAG:

The background is from my stash (Dylusions, templates, gesso). Stamps are by: Dylusions (leaves), Cherry Pie (cemetery, skeletons), Stampotique (it's supposed to be a ghost, don't know if it is recognizable), Inkadinkado (spider - can you see it? :-)). I got Frankenstein's monster from a fellow stamper, don't know the manufacturer.
I decoloured the leaves with bleach and then coloured them back in with neocolor II and distress stains peeled paint. I also stamped the Stampotique girl with bleach in the hope that it looks sth like a ghost. Finally I adhered the eyes and the bat, added the ribbon.
