This is my entry for the challenge 'Mixed Media Monthly - what's your superpower?'

What I consider my 'superpower' in real life is silent observation. It's an indefinite source of learning and getting to know people. You can learn and experience so much and so many things if you observe and listen. And people tend to tell/reveal many interesting things and thoughts ...

Again, I used different Decoart products:
gesso, modeling paste, matte medium, americana acrylics tradidtions blue green light,
aquamarine, fluid acrylics quin gold

Journal Page

Today I'm sharing a page I did yesterday.
That I would use pink (waaaay out of my comfort zone) and grey was the only thing I knew when I started.
This is what it became in the end

Ingedients involved:
Palette knife, acrylic paints, DIY and other stencils, one handcarved stamp and one from the fabulous Master Andy Skinner, Stabilo all marking pencil, a google search for quotes on women, Derwent graphik line painters black and white and wonky handwriting :-)

It reads

Gelli print stickers

Hi all,

recently I dug up my gelli printing plate(s) and did a bit of playing around with them - and a few acrylic paints; sheets intended to be backgrounds, mostly. I just loved some too much to not keep them in any way so they were printed onto adhesive a4 labels and I used punches to get small shapes.

I don't have many punches so it's circles and squares mainly. I also used the big shot and circle dies in different seizes.

You can use the shapes to add to art journal pages for example

or you can even use up the remains to start new ones

Of course you can also use the shapes in any other way you can possibly think of :-)

and again a notebook - with sort of journal pages

I made it as a birthday gift for a coworker of mine.
I'm apologizing in advance for a picture loaded post :-D all the backgrounds are gelli prints with stamp images, the pages are probably no 'real' journal pages but 'cleaning prints' with a few stamp images and sentiments I though funny and fitting LOL

Let's see if I can put together all the manufacturers I used stamps from: acapella stempel, paper artsy, Dyan Reaveley stamps, zettiology, Tim Holtz, chocolate baroque, stampotique, art journey stamps, stamper's best, crafty individuals.
The stencils used are by Andy Skinner, iStencils, and crafter's workshop.

And another entry for Carolyn Dube's colorful gelli print party :-)

I'm also entering the last little humble page into the left of center challenge: red and black.

K is for ...

another round of the Alpha Challenge on the Craft Barn Blog. If you want to know what this is about please hop over to their blog and learn everything about it.
This time it's the letter 'K'.

I'm also entering this into the 'Anything but a Card' challenge #19 which is a color challenge. I just discovered the page fits :-D

I decided to go for the word 'keepsake' and this is what I did for my future alphabet journal:

Here's a picture of an item I hold as a keepsake of my father who passed away way too soon (of course I have other things of him, too ;o)) at the age of 58. Of course it's ridiculous and kitschy, but my dictionary unfortnately doesn't hold the word kitsch. It's an ashtray, actually LOL
I don't even know where it comes from, probably he had it as a keepsake of something or someone too. I'll have to ask my mother.

At first I didn't know what to do with this pic. Then I wanted to make something that is reminiscent of some kind of a shrine. I covered an arc by tando creative with some inka gold indigo. Then I put on a layer of thick embossing powder and pressed a stamp by impressions obsession into it. At last I added a bit of inka gold gold.

I like the texture very much.

I added a stamp of father and daughter (?) by oxford impressions after I sprinkled on some frantage embossing enamel shabby green and some ep gold.
This is the whole page:

Again the background is a ghost print I pulled with my gelli plate. I discovered that the colours match those of the pic almost perfectly - although it's a bit pale. I added stamps by oxford impressions, hero arts, and T.H.

And here's another view of the kitschy piggy-ashtray (I just love it, probably because it's so weird):

Sorry for not commenting much lately, I'll try to catch up as soon as possible.

No, I don't really think they're ugly beasts :-) that's an allegedly quote by Marcus Tullius Cicero.

This time it's the letter 'A' and I chose the word ape:

The background is a gelli print (ghostprint) again like all my other pages for this challenge, the stamps are by: katzelkraft, stamper's best and indigo blu.
I'll leave the interpretation to you :-D
Please don't mind the quality of the pic (the sketches from the dictionary show an orang utan, a chimpanzee, and a gorilla) I had to make a detour because blogger doesn't allow me to upload pictures for some time ...

Oh, and of course I'm entering this also into Carolyn Dube's Colorful Gelli Print Party ;o)

different faces of a woman

at last ... finally I've been able to join the craft barn alpha challenge again after missing too many chances due to ... ah, anyway. Let's say: life.
This is my page for the letter W. To learn about the details of this challenge please hop over to the craft barn's challenge blog.
I used another one of my gelli plate backgrounds which already had a silhouette of a woman stamp on it and dug out a few more images of women I have. It turned out a bit colourful for my taste but I'm entering it anyway.

Noch eine Seite meines hoffentlich  zukünftigen gelli print-Büchleins. Diesmal die verschiedenen Gesichter einer Frau ... zumindest ein paar davon. HG: gelli Druck, ansonsten verschiedene Frauenstempel abgedrückt, ausgemalt, ausgeschnitten und aufgeklebt. Bisschen bunt für meinen Geschmack, aber nuja.

Craft Barn Alpha Challenge #2 - C

Over at the craft barn they have a great challenge - the alpha challenge.
This time it's the letter C and I chose the word 'camera':

I began with a journal page so this has to be one, too.
I used another one of my gelli plate backgrounds, die cut a filmstrip by T.H., put some pictures behind and glued it down. Then I die cut the letters for the word camera (another T.H. die) and adhered them onto the circle pattern of the page. On the bottom left there's some tissue tape. The definition of the word was torn out of my dictionary and I highlighted the word with rusty hinge. There have been some pictures of different kinds of cameras, too, so I tore out the one on the top left. The camera next to the filmstrip is an indigo blu stamp as well as the small male head.

I'm also entering this into Carolin Dube's gelli print party. She has decided to go on with her party and start a new round each month.

Craft Barn Alpha Challenge - letter V

Over at the Craft Barn there's a new challenge.

It's all about letters and dictionaries: the alpha challenge. The challenge will be offered every second Sunday and the letters won't be chosen in alphabetical order ;o)
The rules are explained in detail on the craft barn blog.
We are to take a dictionary, chose a word and make it into a project.

This week it's the letter V.
I went for the word 'VANITY' and came up with something I intend to assemble into a journal in the end but is now only a loose page

The background is another Gelli Plate experiment - so no surprise there.
The stamp was sent to me by the wonderful and most generous Vee, I've been so very delighted to get it and thought it would fit well with the quote by R.L. Stevenson I chose. I tore out the definition of vanity of an old dictionary I purchased at a fleamarket, applied some crackle paint here and there as a resist, crumpled it and went over it with some DI spiced marmelade and vintage photo, glued it down. The words are computer generated, swiped through a few more DIs and glued down as well. The rose (Art Journey) is black embossed.

neue Kamera

Nach einer Odyssee von mehreren Wochen kam heute endlich meine neue Kamera an.

Das ist ein erster und eher bescheidener Versuch, eine Seite in meinem Notizbuch zu pimpen ...

After an odyssey of several weeks finally my new camera arrived.
This is a first and rather humble attempt to jazz up one or two pages of my notebook.
Now I just have to study how to use my camera properly *harhar*
