I tried to make a TAG for the TIO - DragonsDream challenge #145 where they ask for vintage, texture, and flower/s this time.
I just don't seem to have a knack for vintage themed things. Anyway.
Okay, let me rephrase it: I don't feel any connection to the vintage theme so I'm always extremely unsure if I can do this :-)
Here's what I came up with ...
The first attempt:
I made the background with distress paint walnut stain, picket fence, victorian velvet, and antiqued bronze. The stamps are by tweety jill stamps - I stamped some of them onto the background and two of them onto some tea-dyed paper, then I cut them out. For the texture I added some paint to modeling paste and put it through a letter stencil by Dyan Reaveley. The flower is die cut with the T.H. tattered florals die and sprayed with some glimmer mist and moonshadow spray.
This is the second one I slightly like better:
For this one I created a gelli plate print background with various stencils and 'tools'. Then I put some modeling paste mixed with fresco paint very berry through a flower stencil, pressed a script stamp into it and rubbed antique copper over it. The stamps are by hampton art and oxford impressions, also stamped on tea-dyed paper and slightly colored with caran d'ache water-soluble crayons. On the left there is a stamp by kaisercraft, on the right bottom edge there's a metal corner I found in my stash. The pendant is from T.H. glued onto one of his tiny thing stamps.
Here you can see the texture:
Thanks for having a look ...

That's how I feel about Steampunk. I love the look of it and admire when other people do it... I just struggle myself.
ReplyDeleteI really like what you did here, loving that texture in the second one :)
Hi Suzanne, I think both of them are wonderful! Considering you don't 'do' vintage I think you have done an amazing job... Hugs, Anne x

ReplyDeleteI like both of these - I'm not totally sure that I really understand what is meant by 'Vintage' - different things to different people, I suspect. But as far as I can tell, I think you have created 2 beautiful vintage tags. Julie Ann x
